The First Thursday Art Walk is a celebration of the arts in downtown Telluride for art lovers, community and friends. A dozen venues open their doors from 5pm-8pm to introduce their new exhibitions and artists. The finest restaurants feature Art Walk Specials that make for a great night out on the town. Please friend the Telluride Arts on Facebook or follow them on Twitter for information on monthly exhibits and specials. A free Art Walk Map offers a self-guided tour that can be used at any time. First Thursday Art Walk

The Sheridan Arts Foundation wraps up its Holiday Concert Series with Who’s Bad — the Michael Jackson Tribute Band. Considered to be one of the best tributes to the King of Pop, these guys will bring the hits and move of Michael that all MJ fans love. This is Who’s Bad’s fourth time playing the Sheridan Opera House and be sure to dress in your favorite Michael Jackson look for a fun costume contest.

Diavolo is an inventive company comprised of dancers, gymnast and actors who creatively interact with outrageous and surrealistic sets that from an intrinsic part of each movement piece. Working together, Diavolo dancers explore the challenges of relationships, the absurdities of life, and the struggles to maintain our humanity. Performing with astounding athleticism, Diavolo Dance Company appears to defy gravity. With infinite grace on a variety of larger-than-life structures and props, the dancers often elicit gasps from the audience as they push the bounds of the human body.

At the Chocolate Lovers’ Fling you can dance, eat delectable chocolate, bid at the silent auction, participate in the cash raffle, and support a great cause all at the same time. There are cash prizes for the best dressed and good karma for all.

First Thursday Art Walk

Since 1999 the Sheridan Opera House has been the home of the Telluride Comedy Festival. Each year over Presidents’ Day Weekend the Sheridan Arts Foundation and festival director Jeb Berrier bring in some of the countries best and funniest comedians for four nights of amazing comedy in a historic and intimate venue. Every night the show revolves around one comedic form; either stand-up, improv or sketch comedy, with an occasional world premiere such as the Human Giant Roadshow or Ed Helms ‘Whisky Sour Radio Hour’.

The Telluride Comedy Festival strives to be a world class event while keeping the grass roots feel and uniqueness of Telluride itself. Past performers include, Rob Riggle of the Daily Show, Jack MacBrayer from 30 Rock, Stephanie Weir of Mad TV, Arj Barker from Flight of the Choncordes, Tig Notaro from the Sarah Silverman Program, SNL’s Casey Wilson, Rob Corddry, Ed Helms, Brian Huskey, Seth Morris, Jamie Denbo, John Ross Bowie, Bob Dassie, Craig Cackowski, Rob Huebel, Aziz Ansari, June Raphael, Scott Armstrong, Jason Mantzoukas, Eric Appel, Brett Gelman, Eric Andre and Paul Scheer.
