An Evening with Shawn Colvin at the Sheridan Opera House
28th Dec 2012
Starts at 06:30pm
Telluride
The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents two acoustic performances from Grammy-award winning singer songwriter at the Sheridan Opera House on Dec. 28, 2012. Colvin is supporting her most recent album, “All Fall Down,” which was producted by longtime friend and occasional bandmate, guitarist Buddy Miller. The album features collaborations with such artists as Emmylou Harris, Allison Krauss, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Jakob Dylan. The frankness in Colvin’s work has always been tempered by humor and sensuality and a gift for finding strong, simple melodlies. The SAF is excited to host two performances in one night for this year’s annual fundraiser. Colvin will play two shows in one night: 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

New Orleans musician Marc Broussard
29th Dec 2012
Starts at 08:00pm
Telluride
The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents New Orleans musician Marc Broussard as part of its Holiday Concert Series. Broussard is an artists with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R&B, rock and soul into contemporary terms. This gift has been a matter of common knowledge since 2002, when Broussard released his debut album, “Momentary Setback,” which he recorded and released independently at age 20. It was no secret before then, going back to those lucky witnesses who heard him belt “Johnny B. Goode” on stage at age 5 while sitting in with his father’s band. Throughout his life, Broussard has been tapped as a talent to watch. Marc’s song “Home” was successful at radio and catapulted him onto the national touring stage. His music has been placed in many TV shows and movies. The timeless, soulful nature of Marc’s voice lends well to film and TV, and will continue to do so for years to come.

Family-oriented fun blending the unique comedy and juggling skills of Gregory Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his performing pets. Each of the show’s 16 cats and 10 dogs were once strays, rescued from animal shelters. Now, they love to show off onstage – by performing a variety of stunts and skits! It’s a show that both adults and kids of all ages enjoy! The Circus Fans Association of America awarded Popovich its 2009 Entertainer of the Year award for his “unique and most enjoyable performance” and the Comedy Pet Theatre was voted Best New Family show in Las Vegas.

New Years Eve Gala with the Wailers
31st Dec 2012 – 01st Jan 2013
Starts at 09:00pm
Telluride
This year’s New Year’s Eve Gala will celebrate the sweet sounds of Jamaica with reggae legends The Wailers on Dec. 31. Tickets for the Gala are $100 general admission on the floor, limited patron seating cocktail tables will be available. The original backing band for Bob Marley, the Wailers have sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide. Outside of their groundbreaking work with Marley, the Wailers have also played or performed with international acts like Sting, the Fugees, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana and Alpha Blondy as well as reggae legends such as Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and Burning Spear. As the greatest living exponents of Jamacia’s reggae traddition, the Wailers have completed innumerable others tours, playing to an estimated 24 million people across the globe. Their nucleus formed in 1969, when Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh recruited the Barrett brothers — bassist Aston “Family Man” and drummer Carly — from Lee Perry’s Upsetters to play on hits such as Lively Up Yourself, Trenchtown Rock, Duppy Conqueror and many more. Inspired by Rastafari and their ambitions of reaching an international audience, this is the line-up that pioneered roots rock reggae and signed to Island Records in 1971. Bunny and Peter left two years later and it was at this point that the in-demand Barrett brothers, whose rhythms also underpinned innumerable 70s reggae hits by other acts, assumed the title of Wailers and backed Marley on the group’s international breaktrhough album, Natty Dread. Family Man still leads the band and the SAF is please to host such legendary musicians to ring in the new year. There will be patron cocktail seating in the balcony and general admission tickets for the floor. The doors will open at 9 p.m. with opener Tugg kicking things off and the Wailers will begin at 10:30 p.m.
