Torchlight Parade down Coonskin into the Town of Telluride
Instructors from the Telluride Ski and Snowboard School carry lit torches as they ski and ride down from the top of the mountain illuminating the runs into the Town of Telluride via Coonskin trail.
Keep an eye out for Santa skiing on the hill after a busy night delivering presents. Visit Gorrono Ranch at lunchtime to have your picture taken with the jolly fellow. If you’re good you may even get to take a couple runs with him!
The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents Purely Patsy, a Patsy Cline Tribute Show, at the Sheridan Opera House on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 to kick off the 2013 Holiday Concert Series. If you want to see Patsy Cline come alive before your eyes, watch Denver’s Kelley Zinge who absolutely channels Patsy in her one-woman tour de force, “Purely Patsy.” With a remarkably powerful, pitch-perfect voice, show stopping good locks and unforgettable charisma. Come have a chat with the legendary star and recording artist in the most intimate portrayal of her life thus far. Listen to the songs (and the stories behind them) that made her a star, and get to know the woman behind the western outfits like never before. Purely Patsy is what it says it is: her music, her life, it’s Purely Patsy Cline at her best, her worst, her most personal moments. Tickets for this event are $25 (plus a nominal ticketing fee) for reserved seats. The show will begin at 8 p.m. and doors open at 7:30 p.m.
The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents The Oh Hellos as part of its 2013 Holiday Concert Series. Tickets are $22 on the floor and $25 reserved seats in the balcony (plus a nominal ticketing fee). The Oh Hellos have been on the rise gaining notoriety for their unique folk rock sound. They’ve sold out Stubbs Theatre in Austin Texas and several gigs in Denver. They join us in Telluride just prior to playing two New Year’s Eve gigs at the Ogden Theatre. If you liked Seryn or Blind Pilot, you’ll love these guys. The Oh Hellos are Maggie and Tyler Heath, intentionally-independent self-produced music-making siblings hailing from the great state of Texas. Their influences range from Los Campesinos! and the Lumineers to Sufjan Stevens and the Middle East, bending and blending styles and genres into a unique mixture of eclectic folk rock. At 6:30 the Telluride Ski and Snowboard School instructors ride down both sides of the mountain carrying lit flares illuminating the ski runs creating a beautiful scene. A spectacular display of holiday fireworks follows the torchlight parade. Don’t miss the countdown in front of the Court House in Telluride at midnight; it’s the perfect way to ring in the New Year!
Ring in the New Year with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Jefferson Starship

Celebrating four decades of classic rock, Jefferson Starship will play a night of classic hits including “White Rabbit,” “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us,” “Jane” and many more to ring in 2014. Jefferson Starship, created by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jefferson Airplane founder Paul Kantner and David Frieberg, also a frmer Jefferson Airplane member will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2014. The band, descended from Jefferson Airplane — who performed at Monterey and Woodstock, at Altamont with the Rolling Stones and shared the bill countless times with the Greatful Dead and Janis Joplin, and whose music helped definte a generation focused on civil rights, environmental awareness and anti-war activism — will perform from its landmark recordings “Dragonfly” and “Red Octopus.” Jefferson Starship is fronted by acclaimed singer Cathy Richardson, star of the play “Love, Janis”, long time members Donny Baldwin (drums) and Chris Smith (keyboard/bass) and guitarist Jude Gold round out the linup. 2013 proved another remarkable year for the stalwart, iconic band — whose diverse projects and performances include a symphony engagement, boradcast across the U.S. on HDNET and their heralded appearance on PBS, headlining “60s Rock, Pop & Soul,” which still airs coast to coast.
The Sheridan Arts Foundation brings back Colorado’s favorite folk band Elephant Revival.
They will be joined by opening support The Shook Twins, of Portland, Ore. Elephant Revival, a Nederland, Colorado: containing gypsy, rock, Celtic, alt-country and folk.
